
- Provide leadership and direction to the engineering team within the Payroll squads, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and high performance through effective mentorship and guidance.
- Spearhead the technical execution and delivery of the Payroll roadmap, ensuring seamless collaboration with Product teams and key stakeholders to align on objectives and deliverables.
- Make informed technical decisions to enhance system scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability, thereby strengthening the overall infrastructure.
- Enhance engineering velocity and improve delivery predictability, all while upholding stringent quality standards across projects and initiatives.
- Proactively identify and eliminate technical bottlenecks, dependencies, and risks that could potentially affect team efficiency or business outcomes.
- Develop and implement robust engineering practices, focusing on testing, observability, deployments, incident management, and comprehensive technical documentation.
- Collaborate with Tech Leads and senior engineers to address architectural concerns, manage technical debt, and plan the long-term evolution and innovation of the Payroll platform.
- Ensure the accuracy, traceability, resilience, and recoverability of critical payroll processes, committing to continuous improvement and reliability.
- Guide and support engineers through regular feedback sessions, one-on-one meetings, and systematic career development and performance management strategies.
- Champion the adoption of automation and AI technologies to boost developer productivity and reduce time spent on repetitive engineering and operational tasks.
- Work in partnership with Product, Operations, Compliance, Finance, and other teams to effectively tackle complex cross-functional challenges and deliver impactful solutions.
- A minimum of seven years of professional experience in software engineering, showcasing a strong technical foundation and proven expertise.
- At least two years of experience in leading and managing engineering teams in positions such as Engineering Manager, Tech Lead Manager, or similar roles.
- In-depth knowledge and proficiency in backend systems, API development, database management, distributed systems, and cloud architecture.
- A track record of successfully delivering and maintaining critical production systems on a large scale.
- Strong technical judgment with the ability to effectively challenge, guide, and make architecture and engineering decisions.
- Demonstrated success in managing, coaching, and developing engineering talent to cultivate high-performing teams.
- Thorough understanding of software delivery processes, including quality assurance, observability, incident management, and operational excellence.
- Ability to strategically balance business priorities with technical debt, system reliability, and development speed.
- Proven ability to take ownership and work independently within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of fostering collaboration among technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in industries such as Payroll, Fintech, Payments, HR Tech, Banking, or related financial systems is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, cloud-native ecosystems, and AI-assisted software development is considered a valuable asset
